GLOBAL Page 28 BICSI Southeast Asia was the esteemed Knowledge Partner of Data Centre World Singapore 2019, held 9-10 October at Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Centre in Singapore. There, BICSI Southeast Asia District Chair Garies Chong, RCDD, DCDC, moderated panel sessions. In one, a data center (DC) builder, a DC consultant and a DC owner and operator shared their expert visions and experiences to explain the keys to design strategy in the data center world. Another panel discussion, "Now is the Time to Rethink Your WAN in a Multi Cloud World," featured three top-notch DC operators from Equinix, Digital Realty and NTT Limited. Many of the sessions attracted large crowds, including "How to Build A Green Data Center?" Attendees stood and sat on the floor to hear the speaker, BICSI Southeast Asia Thailand Country Chair Assoc. Prof. Dr. Montri Wiboonrat. BICSI Southeast Asia Malaysia Country Chair Dr. Bernard Lee, RCDD, was yet another speaker, whose topic was "The Impact of Hyperscale Visions to the Datacom Industry: Creating Hype or Innovation?" The two-day event took place in 21 theatres across seven shows covering the entire technology ecosystem. Hundreds of educational sessions, dozens of real-life case studies and panel discussions were delivered by 600-plus world-class international speakers, bringing the latest insight to nearly 22,000 industry professionals and business leaders in the region. Gautier Humbert, RCDD, BICSI Mainland Europe District Chair, was invited to speak about the new ANSI/BICSI 002-2019 standard, Data Center Design and Implementation Best Practices at the Legrand Data Center Conference in Algeria. Attendees were extremely interested in BICSI's ability to pro- vide best-practice standards, training and accreditation. In fact, a few have already requested to become BICSI volun- teers for Algeria. The conference, held 16 October 2019, was the first of its kind in the country where the data center market is only starting to boom. It took place at the International Conference Center in Algiers and was moderated by Ahmed Lahri, General Manager of Prolikon Consulting, well known throughout Algeria as a prize-winning news speaker on Algeria TV. The conference, which received quite a bit of media coverage, was a great success, with 200 customers invited but 280 in attendance. See the video to the left.
