he annual event of the National Consumer Technology Industry paid tribute to Bridget Karlin of
IBM, presented the American Heritage Award to Mark Reckling of Grand Appliance & TV,
presented the Torch of Liberty Award to John Taylor of LG Electronics, and Tech and Industry
Veteran Tim Baxter received the Lifetime Achievement Award.
The Anti-Defamation League, founded in 1913, is one of the nation's premier human relations and civil
rights agencies and is dedicated to combating anti-Semitism and all forms of bigotry, defending
democratic ideals, and protecting civil rights for all.
The guests were addressed by Fred Bloch, ADL senior vice president – Growth and keynote speaker
David Sifry, vice president – Center for Technology and Society. Attendees enjoyed an outstanding
interactive presentation highlighting ADL's initiatives to expand the fight against bigotry and hate into the
digital environment. Sifry detailed the ADL Center for Technology and Society's theory of change that
tech can be a force for good both on and off-line.
The Industry is chaired by Fred Towns of New Age Electronics and Vice Chair Eric Schwartz of CTPG.
