of the bulkhead, and on the remaining side of the motor tube, and carefully add this fuselage side to the other one. Remember to glue a blocking plate on the front end of the motor tube. Complete the basic fuse- lage by joining the two ends together with a piece of 3/8" square stock, and add a few pieces of scrap reinforcement to the joints between the motor tube and the motor pod, top and bottom. Final details for the fuselage include closing up the top and bottom with ap- propriate sheeting. For the bottom, the tail boom is "sheeted" with pieces of Diet Dr. Pepper can aluminum. Then, starting with the tail end, lay rectangular pieces of soft drink can the full length of the tail boom. Overlap the aft-most piece a bit with the one succeeding it. Figures 7 and 8 cover this process. This affords an exhaust-proof armor plate job, without which you might well set this wooden plane afire on launch (this has happened to a few Phoenix pi- lots). The tail feathers—the vertical and horizontal stabilizer assembly with rudder and elevators—can be glued on to the aft end of the fuselage assembly at this point. The wing assembly can be test fitted. See Figures 9-11 for details. (Huh? Did I miss something? How do I build the wing and stabilizers? More about that below.) The top surface of the tail boom is similarly sheeted, only with 3/32" balsa. This sheeting is extended to the fuselage area over the motor pod and wing as well. Do not sheet the upper fuselage forward of the wing just now. Sheet the lower space ahead of the wing with 1/16" plywood, cut to size. Figures 12 and 13 show the installa- Figure 15.
