Romaco Group, a pharmaceuti- cal equipment manufacturer based in Karlsruhe, Germany, has appointed M arkus K impel as g roup chief financial officer as well as managing director of Romaco Pharmatechnik. In both positions, Kimpel succeeds Carsten Strenger, who left the com- pany at the end of 2019. Romaco has also appointed Pietro Tomasi as vice president of sales and service. He succeeds Gary Kedley who held the position since 2006 and retired at the end of 2019. Sun is professor and director of gradu- ate studies for the Department of Phar maceutics in the College of Pharmacy at the University of Min- nesota and a member of Tablets & Cap- sules' editorial advisory board. The award recognizes Sun's independent research demonstrating the power of integrating material science and engineering to design robust tab- let formulations and solve manufac- turing problems. Sun's research has involved improving the understand- ing of powder flowability and tablet- ability of APIs and excipients. PCI expands Tredegar facility P H I L A D E L P H I A , PA — P C I Pharma Ser vices, a pharmaceuti- cal and biopharmaceutical CDMO, has beg un expanding its facilit y in Tredegar, Wales, to enhance its high-potency drug manufacturing and development capabilities, includ- ing clinical and commercial supply. The expansion will extend the com- pany's contained oral solid dosage manufact uring facilit y, doubling the large-scale granulation and flu- id-bed drying capacity, and create additional space for high-potency drug handling capabilities, additional analytical capacity, and a small-scale processing area. The new space is expected to be completed by late 2021. The Tredegar expansion fol- lows the recently completed expan- sion to PCI's Rockford, IL, facility to include more than 30,000 square feet for specialt y dr ug products, including four high-potency com- pound suites and three new second- ary packaging areas.
