able and fact-based. Players can swing their natural swing; we just help them get to a more efficient and repeatable impact position, which is the key to playing better golf." Clampett has spent the last decade scaling-up Impact Zone Golf. There are now 150 certified instructors spreading the gospel at facilities across the country. Clampett has three facilities in Florida, including a compre- hensive performance center in Naples and a teaching academy at the Renaissance Club in Ft. Myers. But Clampett is so eager to spread his methodology he regularly hits the road for exclusive two-day clinics. The Preserve in Carmel Valley will host a pair of them this year, May 30-31 and July 18-19. The clinics are lim- ited to a dozen students, with at least four to one instructor/student ratio, including Clampett himself, who leads the proceedings. The cost is $1,995, or $2,795 for the VIP package that includes two additional hours of instruction per day with time on the course. You don't have to be a member at the Preserve to attend the golf school. Students at either clinic can add on a two-round tournament that comes with other fun offerings. Go to impactzonegolfschools.com for all the details. Clampett, who splits his time between Florida and Carmel Valley, has for years offered some intermittent schools and private lessons at Quail Lodge. He is particularly excited to finally bring his full-blown golf school experience to the area. "The Monterey Peninsula is a mecca for serious golfers," he says. "I think there are many locals and visitors who want and will appreciate this kind of high-end instruction. To come back home and be able to share a life- time of knowledge, it's a pretty neat deal. I've learned a lot of lessons in golf the hard way. But it's put me in this position where I can help others. It's funny how life comes full-circle." 120 C A R M E L M A G A Z I N E • W I N T E R 2 0 2 0 Clampett's emphasis on making solid contact also translates to the short-game, part of the focus of his 2-day golf schools.
