Great Western Living & Design Show
Incorporating Art into Everyday Life
H
ome décor and wearable art will be centerstage at the 9th annual
Great Western Living and Design Show. Located at the Montana ExpoPark,
this show features bootmakers, furniture makers, jewelry artisans, and
clothing designers who have truly honed their love of Western style into an
artform. With over 80 vendors displaying the best of the west, you're bound
to fall in love with one of their unique, custom-made pieces.
Artist and show organizer Chuck Fulcher describes the exhibition as being
Western Art Week's version of Las Vegas' Cowboy Christmas. "We have
55,000 square feet of fantastic jewelry, fashion, furniture, and functioning
art," Fulcher says. "It's a wonderful event."
Fulcher is one of four Great Western Living and Design Show artists who
have pieces in this year's Russell auction. "We work very closely with the
Russell Museum," Fulcher explains. "We really believe our show is here to help
support the museum."
The people, animals and landscapes depicted in Fulcher's oil paintings
seem to come to life through his use of rich, bold colors and dramatic
contrasts. Nearly all of his pieces begin with a black canvas, causing the
already-striking hues to project even more vividly.
Custom furniture designer and woodworker Steve Henneford, another Russell
auction contributing artist, will have his high-quality, handmade hardwood
furniture available at this year's show. These heirloom-quality pieces are the
result of Henneford's one-man, old-world craftsmanship enterprise – from
selecting the perfect wood to applying the final finishing coat. "This allows
for an extremely high level of quality control that results in a beautiful piece
of furniture that you will be proud to have in your home and will be enjoyed
for generations," he says.
