Russell Museum this Summer estern artists do not typically use words like "forever" and "legacy" lightly. It is particularly unique when the two come together as in "Forever Glacier," a summer exhibition at the C.M. Russell Museum. Created by artist Nancy Dunlop Cawdrey, vibrant wildlife portraits will set the scene for a legacy project that explores the ecology and brilliance of our National Parks. Known as the "Crown of the Continent," Glacier was designated a National Park in 1910. That early declaration allowed the early protection of a list of mammals now unusual for its completeness. Living close to the Park, Cawdrey is continually inspired to wander and wonder at its pristine landscape while catching sight of a wolverine, a pika, or a grizzly. Through "Forever Glacier" she hopes to enable those who may never visit to have a robust Glacier experience. Cawdrey introduced the concept of the traveling exhibition to the Glacier Park Conservancy and received overwhelming support from Glacier enthusiasts. The project uses her own work as well as technology and hands-on elements to engage and raise awareness, especially in young people, about the wisdom of taking responsibility for public lands. National Parks are often called America's best idea and, as President John F. Kennedy said, a way of "ensuring that future generations may know the majesty of the earth as we know it today." Cawdrey feels it is important to build awareness in young people and create a sense of ownership for continuing the National Park story. The "Forever Glacier'' exhibition includes 25 total pieces from Cawdrey, all substantial in size, and showcasing Ursus arctos • Grizzly Bear • 40 x 30 W Angie Windheim
