ZOONEWS MEMBER MAGAZINE • AUTUMN 2020 • 5 Calendar print error National Reconciliation Week 27 May–3 June You may have noticed a misprint in the 2020 Member Calendar in regards to the date of National Reconciliation Week. National Reconciliation Week runs annually 27 May–3 June. We apologise for the incorrect printing of this date. In the coming months we will be sharing information about why this week is so important to Zoos Victoria. This year's theme is 'In This Together' and we look forward to learning more about our shared histories and cultures and the achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We apologise for any offence caused. Lost Sanctuary Saturday 28 March– Sunday 12 July 9am–5pm Free with entry Enter via the adventure swing bridge and experience this exclusive wild place where Ice Age megafauna and dinosaurs have found sanctuary. Usually off-limits to visitors, this prehistoric site is bigger and better with more beasts than ever before. Wildlife Heroes Party Sunday 22 March 10.30am–2.30pm Free for members A great day out for the whole family. Zoo Members can meet some of their heroes and join in bubble play and craft activities. Activities will take place at the beautiful Ellim-atta event space. Mega Dino Member Event Saturday 18 & Sunday 19 April 10.30am–2.30pm Free for members Watch the ZV Zooper Hero Show and join in the bubble play and lawn games on the Koala Picnic Lawns. Join in a ranger tour of the Mega Beasts and Dinosaurs. Wine and Wildlife Saturday 6, Sunday 7 & Monday 8 June Healesville Sanctuary has teamed up with Yarra Valley icons to bring you a long weekend of food and wine. Keep an eye on the website for further details coming soon. HEALESVILLE SANCTUARY Zoorassic Saturday 28 March–Sunday 12 July 9am–5pm Free with entry See the Docile Dreamy Dinosaurs as they wake up each day, giving visitors quiet time 9–9.45am – perfect for sound-sensitive children. Visit the Werribee River Trail to see a series of animatronic dinosaurs and visit the Dinosaur Fossil Dig Pit. Mini Zoo Keepers Thursdays and Saturdays 9.15am – bookings essential $22.50 for members Follow in the footsteps of a zoo keeper and help us look after some of the special animals in our care at Werribee Open Range Zoo. Wild Nights Friday 26 & Saturday 27 June Friday 3 and Saturday 4 July Friday 10 and Saturday 11 July Wild Nights is back. All mothers who attend will go in the draw to win a rejuvenating Endota Spa voucher (drawn on the day). Adults will also get a glass of sparkling on arrival or, if they attend the morning session, a mimosa. Toddler Programs Free for members Bring along your tiny tots to the mid-week toddler activities. Participate in fun, interactive activities for under-fives all year round (except during school holidays).
