farm406 38 With spraying season right around the corner, contentious farmers are searching for innovative ways to keep weeds out of their fields and money in their pockets. Fortunately for them, the crew at the WEEDit company has spent years fine- tuning their cuing-edge technology to help the nation's farmers boost their boom lines while also implementing more eco- friendly processes. Dave Chinadle, a lifelong farmer who has spent decades working his family's land on the Hi-Line north of Hingham, was the first Montana farmer to utilize the WEEDit system in his fields. As he heads into his third season, his neighbors have taken note of just how positive the weed-detecting technology has been for his operation. "A lot of people were standing back watching to see how it works," Dave laughs. "Now, they want to get one coming." WEEDit technology economically eliminates weeds by using sensors to scan every millimeter of the ground in search of chlorophyll, Dave explains. e chlorophyll is reflected back to the sensor, which then activates the spray and targets the plant. e process is far more economical than traditional broadcast spraying.
