SIMPLE AV CONTROL CONCEPTS
By Karl Rosenberg A presenter enters the meeting room with a carefully prepared presentation on a laptop.
A connection to the room's AV system is made, the PowerPoint slides are fired-up and…
NOTHING! The screen is blank! Anyone who has experienced this probably recalls
a sinking feeling as the audience loses interest and attention.
Audiovisual system suppliers and integrators aim to make sure this never happens,
and they have largely succeeded. Today's meeting room AV systems are much more
user-friendly and foolproof than ever before.
System control is the art and science of making AV systems useful tools for the people
who depend on them to persuade, inform, educate, and entertain. BICSI Registered
Communications Distribution Designers (RCDDs) and installers need to understand
thoroughly what is in the system control toolbox so that the AV systems designed and
installed work consistently and transparently.
