CONCLUSION
Sign-Off
The ultimate goal of the project is to present the system
to the client for final training and sign-off. Training can
be formal or informal, based on agreements made with
the client and documented in the SOW. Screen captures
of the final GUI should be provided for the development
of a system manual by the client. Deliver the final ver-
sions of the control software to the client along with
the system documentation in accordance with the SOW.
Ensure the procedure for ongoing support, warranty
repairs, bug reporting, and fixes are documented. Get
final sign-off in writing from the client representatives
authorized to accept the system.
Presenters and audiences will judge an AV system on
image and sound quality. However, if the control system
makes it difficult to get the program material from the
sources to the screens, presenters get frustrated and audi-
ences lose interest. The most successful and reliable con-
trol systems have an intuitive user interface and an easy-
to-use configuration environment. If these goals are
achieved and if the commonsense design, installation,
and project management guidelines presented in this
article are followed, it will go a long way to having satis-
fied clients that find it a pleasure to use and maintain
their AV systems.
