To do this, the foundation was excavated and lowered 3 feet to create 9-foot high ceilings and the walls were underpinned. In addition, large historic wood windows and an oversized glass pocket door were installed to bring in natural light. Finally, a separate south-facing entrance was created that did not originally exist. LED lights saturate the space with bright light and complement the contemporary design with luxury quartz countertop and custom European Hans & Krug cabinetry. That changed as their family grew and the kids needed a safe place to play. The narrow, sloping site was tamed and made functional with an intelligent, multi-terrace design that added a pool, patio, deck and level natural turf yard in a compact space, which was constrained by a steep hillside above and a marsh below. LED rope lighting on risers improves visibility and promotes stair safety, while porcelain tile and plank decking stays cool under swimmers' bare feet. Thanks to a kid-friendly jumping ledge, they even have a wet bar and outdoor kitchen. (continued from page 13) xceence E 2020 EVENING OF ( PART TWO )
