Montana farmers and gardeners know that our fair-weather months
can yield bumper crops and bounties of fresh, local produce that far
surpass most anything shipped in from hundreds or thousands of miles away.
In those warm months of plenty, it can even be easy to forget that winter is
always right around the corner, gearing up to put our access to fresh produce
into a grueling deep-freeze until the ground thaws again in the spring.
But what if someone found a way to keep fresh fruits and
veggies on store shelves all year 'round?
