Certificate & Degree Programs 2020-2021 Division: Trades & Technology - Apprentice Meat Cutter Program Manager: R. Mark Woehl The Certificate of Competency (CCT) for Apprentice Meat Cutter explores proper safety and maintenance of hand tools and all power equipment used in the meat cutting industry, including a variety of knives, meat saws, meat grinders, meat tenderizers and meat slicers. Identify, cut, wrap, weigh and display all retail cuts of meat for sale in a retail environment. Maintain and merchandise a retail meat case and manage inventory. Gain experience filling customer orders. Break down and process a variety of meats like elk, deer, antelope and javelina, whole cattle, hogs and lamb. Perform tasks while maintaining industry safety and sanitation standards. Program Notes: Food Handlers Card is completed in class and required before working in the lab. Admission Criteria: Must be able to lift 50 pounds. Must be able to stand for extended periods of time. Must be able to work in cold/freezing temperatures. Program Prerequisite: None BUSINESS - GENERAL BUSINESS ASSOCIATE IN APPLIED SCIENCE DEGREE IN GENERAL BUSINESS (61-66 CREDITS; CODE 3148) To qualify, students must earn a grade of C or better in all courses within the program. Division: Business and Information Technologies Program Director: Annette Torrey-Banks The Associate in Applied Science (AAS) in General Business program is designed to meet the needs of students who wish a broad overview of business and desire not to enroll in a specialized curriculum in business. The program is designed to acquaint students with major subject areas of business, to improve the student's business vocabulary, and to provide students with an understanding of influencing factors in business decision making and activities. In addition, this program may aid a student in recognizing a specific business field to be pursued in future studies. A Certificate of Completion (CCL) in General Business is available. Program Notes: Students must earn a grade of C or better in all courses required within the program.
