Certificate & Degree Programs 2020-2021 computer maintenance, help desk, and network technician jobs with an emphasis on security. The courses focus on the development of knowledge and skills in computer and security technologies including system components, installation, system configuration, peripheral devices, and notebooks. Emphasis is placed on preventing, identifying, and mitigating threats to the security of information systems and utilizing the basic tools for information security. This program helps prepare participants for the CompTIA A+, and Security+ certification exams. Students who complete this program may seek employment in a variety of environments. Students can also pursue additional certificates of competency (CCTs) or completion (CCLs) in a variety of specializations within the information technology field to deepen their knowledge and skills and help prepare them for multiple industry certification examinations. An Associate in Applied Science (AAS) in Network and Systems Administration is also available. Program Notes: This program is not eligible for Title IV Federal Financial Aid. Students must earn a grade of C or better in all courses within the program. Students who pursue this certificate of competency (CCT) should have a basic level of computer literacy including navigating the internet and computer systems or take ISP105 as indicated in the required courses. Students with the requisite skills may have the ISP105 requirement waived by permission of the Program Director. All courses within the required course area are not applicable if taken more than five (5) years prior to the completion of the program. Consult with an academic advisor or program director for exceptions. Program Prerequisites: None. COMPUTER SUPPORT SPECIALIST CERTIFICATE OF COMPETENCY IN COMPUTER SUPPORT SPECIALIST (638 CLOCK HOURS; CODE 1161-DAY/1163-NIGHT) Division: Trades & Technology - Computer Support Program Manager: R. Mark Woehl The Certificate of Competency (CCT) in Computer Support Specialist program provides students with a solid, hands- on skill set of computer, networking, and customer user support. Students gain an understanding of the interaction between microcomputer software and hardware, network and internetworking operating systems software and hardware, as well as interpersonal/customer service skills. Students have the opportunity to pursue their interests and professional goals leading to industry recognized certifications embedded in the CCT, including: networking, Linux, and customer user support. Program Notes: Students must earn a grade of C or better in all courses within the program. For students considering college and/or university transfer, consult with a navigator, academic, program, or faculty advisor at the college and/or university transfer partner.
