Course Listings 2020-2021 (HCR) HEALTH CARE RELATED HCR210 Lecture 3 Credits 3 Periods Clinical Health Care Ethics An introduction to health care ethics with emphasis on analysis and ethical decision making at both the clinical and health policy levels for health care professionals. Theoretical foundation of bioethics reviewed within historical and contemporary contexts. Prerequisites: A grade of C or better in ENG102 or ENG108 or permission of Instructor. HCR220 Lecture 3 Credits 3 Periods Introduction to Nursing and Health Care Systems Introduction to the social, political, and economic contexts of the nursing profession and health care systems in the United States. Prerequisites: A grade of C or better in ENG102 or ENG108 or permission of Instructor. HCR230 Lecture 3 Credits 3 Periods Culture and Health Relation between cultures of diverse groups and health/illness. Emphasis on cross-cultural communication, including awareness of own cultural influences and indigenous and complementary healing practices. Prerequisites: None. HCR240 Lecture 4 Credits 4 Periods Human Pathophysiology Chemical, biological, biochemical, and psychological processes as a foundation for the understanding of alterations in health. The structural and functional pathophysiology of alterations in health; selected therapeutics considered. Prerequisites: A grade of C or better in BIO202 or BIO205, or permission of Instructor.
