Overbooked?
How to fix your messy schedule
By Wendy S. Myers, CVJ
With three months of backlogged checkups, clinics
are inundated with appointment requests during
reopening phases. A two-doctor practice faces up
to 900 patients that became overdue for checkups
when local jurisdictions limited hospitals to urgent
care and emergencies. Pile on the usual busy
appointments and your schedule is a hot mess.
Doctors are booked three to six weeks in advance.
How can your clinic meet this demand? More
importantly, how can your team get through the
surge and save your sanity?
Forward book patients coming due for checkups
during the next two months, or you risk being
unable to provide timely care. Send reminders
eight weeks in advance (not one month ahead)
so clients may forward book. You'll have more
appointment availability and can ensure well-
timed preventive care.
Do this
In November, you will forward book patients due for checkups
in December and January. Covetrus offers Rapport
®
client
communications, which provides automated reminders,
texting, mobile apps, online scheduling, and more time-savers
(softwareservices.covetrus.com/global/solution/rapport/).
Because texts have the highest open rates at 99%, focus on
getting more clients to opt-in for text messages.
