I can go on for hours on how Shealynn is hard working and amazing. I have promoted her to lead Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) because of her hard work and positive attitude. She is ready to handle anything, and she is the nicest person you will ever meet. Shealynn gets along with everyone and is well liked. Our hospital has gone through multiple hurdles and she is always there to help. When our hospital had to evacuate from the fires in Sonoma County, Shealynn came and got all the boarders and hospitalized pets and brought them to her home to care for. She was up all night giving medication, feeding, and helping all the animals for well over a week all on her own. As an essential worker, she has showed up for every shift and has come in on her days off to help when we are short staffed. She is a HUGE Disney fan, so we listen to a lot of Disney music in the treatment area, which helps keep the moral up. She trains the new hires and is very patient and thorough when going over policies and explaining things. This profession is not easy, and she leads our amazing technician team with grace in providing quality medicine to our patients. If there is ever an issue, Shealynn seems to spend five minutes in the problem and the rest of the time finding solutions. She definitely is one of the pillars that keep this hospital running. I cannot say enough good things about Shealynn, she works hard and will help out wherever help is needed with kennel duties or CSR duties, she helps out with every aspect of the hospital. Shealynn sets a high example for the rest of the team and am truly grateful for having her in our lives. Tammy Geurts Nominated by: Gabrielle Radford, Practice Manager Practice name: Animal Hospital of De Pere Why are you nominating this veterinary nurse/technician? Tammy is a certified veterinary technician who has worked at our practice for 15 years. She is the first to jump in when we ask for something to be changed in the clinic and she is a rock star when ensuring her patients get the care they need like bloodwork, dentals, and preventatives. When we presented a new protocol, which encouraged owners to elect for early detection bloodwork, our clinic goal was 20 in six months, she made sure that 20 pets received early detections tests in two weeks. She helped our team meet the goal as well as went above and beyond. Tammy created a first-time visitor board for our patients, which allows us to identify the new patient with a picture on our Facebook page. She makes sure that all the new puppies and kittens get a chance to get their picture taking in front of the board. She enjoys trying to make the pictures entertaining for us and the clients. Our clinic has helped a local shelter in the area for 10 years with low-cost spay and neuter days where we perform 30-40 spays and neuters. Tammy volunteers and gives her time to help ensure they are successful. Over the last six months things have even been more stressful but she is always here with a smile. There have been times when we have appointments every 10 minutes and she keeps a positive attitude through it all. She is the first to stay late or volunteer to come in if an emergency arises. Tammy is a veterinary hero and deserves to be recognized for the work that she does for our clinic, our patients, and our community. Vet Tech Heroes Awards
