Chefbot: Snap, Tweet, Cook
More people than ever are staring at the
contents of their refrigerators wondering
what to cook. Kroger Co. research found that
nearly three in four consumers are eating
meals prepared at home multiple times a day,
with more than half of those meals requiring
a moderate to high amount of preparation.
The retailer's first-generation Chefbot, an
AI-powered Twitter recipe tool that makes
suggestions based on the ingredients that
consumers have on hand, aims to help with that.
Users simply snap a shot of three
ingredients and tweet the image to
@KrogerChefbot. The app responds with a
list of personalized recipes. Chefbot's AI can
recognize nearly 2,000 ingredients, which link
to 20,000 Kroger recipes that range from easy
to expert levels. The app even integrates Kroger
e-commerce into the mix.—Denise Shoukas
