24 January/February 2021 Tablets & Capsules A survey of what's available granulation & drying Integrated granulation suite GT 1600 X.One integrated granulation train combines the company's HSM 2000 X.One high-shear mixer and FBE 1800 X.One fluid-bed system into a single unit for high-volume batch production. Unit features a z-shaped impeller to ensure material flow and improve granule content uniformity. Compressed air system assists with discharge, and a bag-type mechanical shaking filter offers higher product retention and yields compared to alternative blow-back style systems. Tangential charge port ensures effective product transfer and provides a consistent and repeatable drying process. Through-the-wall construction optimizes pro- cess-room layout and increases operator access for calibration and maintenance. Other features include shock-resistance up to 12 bars of pressure, contained prod- uct handling, and complete systems integration of the process controls based on a common user-friendly platform. ACG North America, Piscataway, NJ 908 757 3425 www.acg-world.com Double planetary mixer Double planetary mixer is ideal for high-precision mixing, granulation, and vac- uum drying in a single vessel. Two rectangular blades gently blend powders and granules, rotating on separate axes as they orbit the mixing zone on a common axis. Atomizing spray nozzles provide controlled and spill-free addition of liquids as the mixing blades continuously ensure uniform composition and temperature throughout the batch. Options include flush discharge plugs or valves, covers for transporting portable mix vessels, and controls to integrate the mixer with auxil- iary equipment such as vacuum pumps, heating and cooling units, and load cells. Charles Ross & Son, Hauppauge, NY 631 234 0500 www.mixers.com Wet and dry granulation feeders Company's feeders are designed to meet the growing demand for wet and dry granulation in pharmaceutical continuous processing. Feeder design incorporates a D4 platform scale and a smart force transducer weighing unit, allowing for multi- feeder clusters when making multi-ingredient formulations while conserving floor space. Modular design is easy to clean and maintain, allowing for easy exchange of feeder types and sizes as well as hoppers or agitators using the same scale and drive for fast adaptation to new processes and formulations. Company offers two feeder types (QT20 and QT35) that can be used with the same scale and drive combination. Feeder is ideal for high-accuracy feeding of difficult-to-handle phar- maceutical excipients and APIs. Coperion K-Tron, Sewell, NJ 856 589 0800 www.coperion.com/pharma
