FOSSI is planned as the rst of several efforts to address the needs of underrepresented groups with a goal to support 150 students majoring in STEM at HBCUs in the initiative's rst year. The project's founding partners outside of HBCU Week Foundation include the Amer- ican Chemistry Council (ACC), the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE), and Chemours. HBCU Week Foundation will serve as the scholarship admin- istrator for the initiative. As of December 2020, the scholarship fund had achieved $4.6 million toward an initial funding goal of $7.2 million in 2021.
