e planning process began in 2014-2015. Minneapolis
based company, MSR Design, helped form the vision and
plan the space. Finn says, "We want to be the community's
living room. We want to have people come in and not just
check out a book, but sit and converse, participate in a
program, see a movie…things like that."
Helena's Mosaic Architecture combined concept and
design. It was Mosaic's idea to travel to Calgary and tour
their new public library and other smaller libraries within
their system to get ideas of what modern library space looks
like. A main feature garnered from this trip is the rounded
bookstacks surrounding what is called e Marketplace.
Located near the Public Services Desk, e Marketplace is
where new books, movies, and games are displayed.
