The sports administration graduate wouldn't have it any other way. Skinner is the Team Leader of Sport Performance for the United States Olympic Committee in Colorado Springs, Colo., and serves as liaison to 17 national sport governing bodies, including figure skating, track and field, ice hockey, weightlifting and various Paralympic games. "Our focus is on getting the athletes the support they need to reach their goals," says Skinner, who has worked with gold medal-winning athletes including swimmer Michael Phelps and speed skater Apolo Ohno. "It's always a great moment when you feel how proud they are of their accomplishments and their country." Skinner credits his CMU course work and engaging internships with the Chippewa Club and USA Weightlifting for preparing him for his Olympic work. This year he was the first recipient of Central's Outstanding Sport Management Alumni Award. He is currently priming athletes for the 2014 Winter Games in Sochi, Russia, and the 2016 Summer Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. • 38 38 centralight winter '10 summer '13 Daisy C.
