rom its rock fireplace and rough log beams to the countless sets of
animal horns and framed images by Augusta photographer Gus Wolfe,
the Buckhorn Bar in Augusta is all about embracing life on the Rocky
Mountain front.
It is also a place where riding a horse straight through the doors and
up to the bar isn't an unheard-of event, but those are stories for
another time.
"We have a wolf and a mountain lion," bar owner Tammy Dellwo
laughs. "ere is definitely a lot of focus on nature and wildlife in here."
e other focus, of course, is the food.
"We're famous for our broasted chicken," Tammy says, noting a
hometown favorite that first hit the menu in the 1970s. "We have a
special white sauce with it and people love it."
e Buckhorn is also Augusta's go-to spot for charbroiled burgers and
juicy, tender steaks.
e Buckhorn Bar is open om 7 a.m. until 2 a.m. every day. Please leave
your horse outside unless otherwise instructed by management.
e kitchen fires up at 11 a.m. and runs until 10 p.m. Phone: 562-3344
"People traveling through say they're amazed at how friendly Montana
people are and they just love our food and say our burgers are huge,"
Tammy says. "And our regulars, well they're the best. ey're very
supportive and are basically family."
Visitors can kick back in the outdoor seating area or can head on inside
to enjoy a great meal and a cool beverage.
