Morton Grove Park District | 6834 Dempster Street | (847) 965-1200 | mortongroveparks.com HARRER POOL | JULY 2021 PRESIDENT'S LETTER Fall 2021 Greetings everyone! I cannot begin to express how wonderful the summer has been so far. Kids at camp, adults playing softball, families getting together with friends and neighbors at the Tuesday night concerts. Such a diff erence from last year. Together we weathered one of the most diffi cult times this nation has ever experienced. The Board of Park Commissioners thanks everyone for their patience and understanding as the district navigated the pandemic. What if you are not vaccinated yet? Anyone 12 years of age and older are eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine. To fi nd a vaccination location visit vaccines.gov or call 833-621-1294 to schedule an appointment. A couple of quick updates on construction projects throughout the district. Work on Harrer Pool continues. We expect it will be complete before the end of summer. Take a look at the pictures taken in mid-July. The playground replacement of Arnum Park will begin at the end of July. The drawing on the right is the concept and color scheme chosen by the community. Several basketball and tennis courts are scheduled for resurfacing or replacement this summer. Due to administrative delays, we expect projects at Harrer, Austin, Mansfi eld, Oketo and Shermer Parks to begin in early September. As we close the remaining months of summer, there is still fun to be had. Join us on August 2nd from 5:30 to 8:30 pm as we help celebrate National Night Out with the Morton Grove Police department. Park District staff will be there with games and a free give-a-way. On August 17th, we will be hosting our Back-to-School Bash at the north end of Harrer Park from 5:30 to 8:30 pm. We will be off ering live music, children's entertainment, and much, much more. We are excited to be part of the Morton Grove Days Foundation's 2021 Labor Days event scheduled for Saturday, September 4th, and Sunday, September 5th. Each day will feature live music with a fi reworks display capping off the event on Sunday night. The park district will be there with infl atables for kids. For details, visit the Village of Morton Grove's website at www.mortongroveil.org/ for more information. The Board of Park Commissioners welcomes comments and suggestions from residents. You can attend our monthly meeting on the third Wednesday. You can also send us an email at board@mgparks.com. 6 Keith White Park Board President Morton Grove Park District mortongroveparks.com
