How the Members

Healthy
The Right Partner with the Right Solution
The tennis-teaching profession is often depicted in movies and
television as a glamorous lifestyle, showing "tennis pros" instructing
the rich and famous in exotic country clubs and high-dollar resorts.
The truth is that professional tennis instruction runs across a broad
spectrum of teaching situations, from private clubs to municipalities
to middle or high school coaching.
Many tennis-teaching professionals are not traditional full-time
employees – they often work as independent contractors or are
entrepreneurs owning and operating teaching schools or tennis
academies. Teaching the sport is only one aspect of their professional
lives.
Representing this diverse mix of individuals and businesses is
the mission of the United States Professional Tennis Association
(USPTA), which has been providing instruction, certification, and
professional development for teaching professionals and coaches
for nearly a century. Its current membership ranks include 10,000
individuals worldwide.
