23 farm406 business ventures. It was at the "Rural Rooted Retreat," Arntzen realized her potential to create something new. "I went down there thinking I would help my husband by selling bull semen," she laughs. "I came out realizing I can do my own thing, have my own business and still contribute to our family ranch." While teaching, Arntzen developed an online resource for parents of her students. e "Rural Resource Room" provided insight into her classroom activities and field trips. Arntzen changed the Rural Resource Room's direction from classroom teachings to agricultural home-based lessons. "ey are ag-based activities with a curriculum in mind," she explains. "ey focus on core skills like handwriting, fine motor skills and number and leer recognition for children in preschool or kindergarten." Each themed activity box contains a lesson plan of four or five activities and enough materials to complete the activities once. "Being a teacher, I always taught in themes that went with our seasons," Arntzen says. "Each month has a different theme that goes along with the work we do on our ranch." Additionally, Arntzen says she will always carry the Rancher box, which includes ear tag matching, piggy penning, barn building, tractor assembly, and livestock rescuing. Each box also contains a recipe to make with an adult. The "Agtivity" box is "rural lifestyle inspired, hands-on, home learning delivered," says Krista Arntzen of the Rural Resource Room. The activity boxes feature four to five agriculturally inspired lessons geared towards preschool and kindergarten aged children. KEEPING MONTANA KEEPING MONTANA GROWING GROWING JOHN GOOD AGENCY, INC.
