Aer the ups and downs of the past four years, Nathan offers
this advice:
• Timing is everything. e earlier, the beer for seeding,
as long as there isn't a forecast for severe cold.
• During harvest, watch for fiber wrapping in machinery
because the strength of hemp fiber can tear out bearings
or blow a seal.
• Start cuing on the greener side
• Use a full aeration floor to get the plant to 9% moisture,
so it doesn't spoil
Nathan sees great reasons to farm hemp. As a former
advertising executive, Keane knows it is easier to sell something
you believe in.
He says it is a fantastic rotation crop, and they continue to see
bumps in yield for crops grown aer hemp. e hemp market is
gaining in popularity with the recognition of the health benefits
of consuming hemp. He sees an advantage to being on the
ground floor of this growing industry.
Working as a farmer and especially working in a new industry
such as hemp, Nathan finds that it is forever changing, and he is
forever learning – and he finds that very exciting.
Aer hemp became federally
