farm406 40 Rae Grulkowski, Kings Arena, MT. October 15, 2020. A recent New York Times article stirred controversy as Rae Grulkowski states: "Montanans quickly sounded their aversion with those far removed from the realities of Montanan's life support system. Montanans have defended their private property for decades. Montana's natural resources and agricultural industry create our largest revenue, and when uninformed urban dwellers threaten to push their pet projects upon agriculturally dependent communities, the mix is contentious. Now, add to the recipe the deception of not informing those impacted. And give it a dash of refusal to sit at the table and hear what those Montanans know about their means of living. Lastly, set it afire by publicizing for national aention, aempting to override the local community whose property they want to leverage." In December 2020, Kathy Wilmot, a Beaver City, Nebraska resident, contacted me to assist in opposing a 49 county NHA pursued by Kansas Nebraska Heritage Area Partnership (KNHAP). Wilmot monitored this NHA's progress aer reading a newspaper article titled, "Potential Seen for Kansas Nebraska National Heritage Area," Kearney Hub, April 21, 2018. Wilmot finally happened upon KNHAP's Facebook page in 2020, which described the formation of a board of directors. ey had yet to become a 501c3 nonprofit while planning on conducting a feasibility study. Surmising that most county commissioners in Kansas, Nebraska's 49 counties hadn't heard of KNHAP, Wilmot and I notified them by mailing materials and copies of the book, The Kings Arena Entrance, Cascade County, MT, October 16, 2020.
