Russell's contemporaries, O.C. Selzer, Frederic Remington, and "Ace" Powell. e Hotel Arvon has a long history. Great Falls Founding Father, Paris Gibson, asked Robert Vaughn—who became an influential businessman in Montana—and H. P. Rolfe to survey and layout the streets and avenues of the original town plat in 1883. A few years later, in 1890, Vaughn constructed a 40- room hotel and stable where the Hotel Arvon and the Celtic Cowboy are currently located. Vaughn was also friends with C. M. Russell, who drew the illustrations for Vaughn's book, en and Now, chronicling his experience on the Montana frontier and reminiscences of many of his famous friends. In 2011 the renovation process began to bring the property back to life with 33 boutique hotel rooms, a lively pub, and two unique event spaces, puing the property on the National Register of Historic Places. It is America's only boutique hotel and Irish pub housed in a 130-year-old livery stable. Western Art Week devotees always look forward to geing together with friends.
