Harvey omas Dunn's High Country, an
illustrative art piece, is expected to garner lots of
aention from bidders. e painting was featured
in the Saturday Evening Post, January 1908 edition.
Dunn grew up on a homestead in South Dakota
where work was hard from sunrise to sunset. He
earned money by plowing neighbor's fields with
horses, saving enough money to enroll in college.
He worked his way through several art schools in
the following years and came across one professor
who encouraged him to take up illustration for
magazines. He caught a break with the Saturday
Evening Post where he had an affiliation for years.
During World War I, he joined the Army and went
to France as an Army illustrator, capturing the
action on the front lines. Even when he returned
to the states in 1919, he continued to paint war
pictures that had been etched in his mind.
