After the last several months with below-freezing temperatures, I truly hope summer comes quickly. Let's hope Phil was wrong. Now, Pennsylvania may have a famous groundhog, but we have busy beavers at the Morton Grove Park District. Our recreation department is busy planning new events, programs, and classes for us to help shake off the cold. As you look through this brochure, if you have any questions, please contact us, we will be happy to answer all your questions. We are very excited for the summer and grand opening of Harrer Pool. We are sure you and your family will enjoy the pool this year and many years after. We are confi dent memories can be made, just like the memories Peter Witt has. When Peter learned Harrer Pool was under construction, he wrote to the park district of being the fi rst kid to jump off the high dive the summer to pool opened. He writes he was the "happiest ten-year-old ever." He continues he was always at the pool as soon as it opened. After his "paper route, household chores, and family dinner," he was back at the pool for an evening swim. He mentioned collecting coins from the bottom of the pool to purchase a hamburger at the Golden Point hamburger joint. It was great that Peter shared these memories with us. We can only hope you, too, can create long-lasting memories at Harrer Pool. Want to create memories earlier than an opening day? The park district will be hosting a VIP NIGHT for selected pool memberships that are purchased before May 13th. Sixty memberships will be invited to a special "invitation only" event on Friday, June 3rd, from 5:30 to 8 pm. Food and drinks will be served; there will be music, a give-a-way, and plenty of memories. Purchase your membership before time runs out! We hope you enjoy the classes, events, and facilities we off er this summer. If you have a comment or suggestion you wish to share with us, please email us at board@mgparks.com. Don't forget; you can attend one of our monthly board meetings on the third Wednesday of each month at the Prairie View Community Center beginning at 6:30 pm. Have a great spring, and we will see you in the parks this summer.
