He oen uses some inter- esting tools that I never knew existed, and sometimes I find them useful in my rocket building. Here are a few of the items that I learned about from his channel (no, I didn't just grab Adam-in- spired stuff from my work bench to show off because I couldn't think of anything else to write for this issue; well, yes, that's actu- ally exactly what hap- pened). Steel 1-2-3 blocks are 1"x2"x3" in size and either solid or have holes through them. I don't know what ma- chinists use these for, but I use them to prop up model parts, or as handy weights, or when I need a small flat surface or square corner. I don't need thousandth-of-an-inch precision, so I bought cheap ones. Who knew that I'd find a tiny machinist square useful when marking or laying out parts, but I love my 80x50mm square. We all do a lot of sanding (and I sand even more now that I 3D-print parts), and Adam recommended MAKARTT nail files as a handy way to sand— they are like super em- ery boards. I have a scroll saw that I use to cut out fins and centering rings, but I never knew that spiral blades existed that al- low cutting in any di- rection. Very handy. I learned about not just tools, but also paint. Molotow Liquid Chrome paint gives an amazingly shiny chrome finish. And Al- clad II Gloss Klear Kote is a clear finish that doesn't make metallic paint turn dull when it's sprayed on.
