no glue yet. Slide the tube and ring into the nose cone until the top edge of the tube hits the upper end of the cone. e 20/50 ring will slide down as it contacts the inside angle of the nose cone wall. Remove the tube and ring, leaving the 20/50 ring in its new po- sition. Without moving the ring, apply glue fillets to both sides, gluing it to the BT-20. e top edge of the 20/50 ring should end up about 7/16" from the top of the BT-20 tube. Let dry. Apply rings of glue to the top of the BT- 20 and the top edge of the 20/50 centering ring. Place the BT-20 shoulder assembly into the nose cone; the glue rings will make a two-point contact with the inside wall of the nose cone. Viewed from the bottom, visually center the interior assembly in the nose cone. Don't glue the 1" long coupler in yet—it will be glued in aer final nose cone fitting. Body Segments Glue a centering ring into the lowest tube, recessed about 1/4" inside the bot- tom. Slide in the long BT-20 tube with about 1/4" extended below, out the bottom of the centering ring. Do not apply glue on the BT-20/Centering Ring joint yet. Assembly Explanation e main rocket body is made of four T.P. tube segments. Cut out the Tube Segment Pattern and roll around a T.P. tube. Using scissors, cut the 3/4" vertical cut line. e curved dashed line along the bot- tom is for reference, do not cut this line. Fold and glue one side of the 3/4"cut slit in under itself as shown in the picture. is makes the upper tube end smaller to slide into a lower tube. e lowest motor mount end is consid- 40 MAY/JUNE 2022 SPORT ROCKETRY Above: Centering rings were made from scrap cardboard.
