Most people build a house and then choose the fixtures and furnishings, but owner
and operator Tina Scho says she spent years collecting salvage items and antiques and
then built the stone house around them. e found objects with all of their history and
stories brought a unique element to the new construction. She explains, "I wanted it to
have an old soul."
Tina began the project in 2010 on 160 acres of the family ranch. She and her husband,
Dr. Wm. Peter Horst made weekend treasure hunts to locate salvaged items that
included two intricately carved staircases - one from a historic Philadelphia church
and another from an Indianapolis home. Other finds included antique doors, stained
glass, gothic seating, and a marble fireplace for the siing area. She also blended in
various items rescued from the family ranch.
The formal dining room is charming and inviting.
