92 | SIGNATURE MONTANA ARTICLE PROVIDED BY BEST FRIENDS ANIMAL HOSPITAL PET HEALTH 101 You may try saying this handsome, three-legged pup isn't completely adorable, but you wouldn't have a leg to stand on. is is the story of a puppy who spends every day happy and playful, like any normal puppy, despite the curveball life has thrown him. Monty was born the first week in February of 2021. He was only a day old when his mom chewed off his le front paw. His liermate, Dolly, lost both back feet the same way. With an overly large lier, the owners of the two pups were overwhelmed with around-the-clock feedings every two hours and upcoming orthopedic care. Some may call it fate, but these two puppies were in the right place at the right time. Two veterinary technicians working the day the pups came to Best Friends Animal Hospital decided to adopt Monty and Dolly and share the challenges they faced together. Two Puppies TAIL of From Monty's Adoptive Mom on Instagram: 2/12/21 Well, I guess since it's official… everyone, say hello to our new family member, Montolio Debrochee. He has a long road ahead, but we're excited to travel it with him. Oh yeah, he's only 15 days old today. What would possess a mother dog to do such a horrible and unthinkable thing to her newborn puppies? Aer delivering the lier, the mom is flooded with hormones and instinctively wants to clean up all indicators of birthing puppies. Mom can get overzealous while cleaning and may nibble off ears, legs, or tails. She may feel stressed from not having a quiet place for the lier. Too many visitors stopping by and other animals in the home can be too stressful, causing the mother to do the unthinkable. Monty (left) and Dolly (right) show off their prosthetics while they rest after a long play session. Nearly three weeks into life, Monty finds comfort in the hand of his new adoptive Mom.
