e school district uses approximately 120
pounds of Gran Prairie burger each week, says
Friesen. Determining the logistics of the large
order and keeping costs down was a challenge at
first, says Marti.
"We deliver 700 to 900 pounds at a time," she
explains, "and try to plan ahead to coordinate
trips to when I am already going to town to keep
the prices low."
In the future, the Schultzes hope to work with
a local processor to further lower costs and keep
the business local.
"It's rewarding to know that our beef is feeding
800 kids," says Marti.
Grilled samples of Gran Prairie Ranch's Smoked House beef hot dogs and polish
dogs sit on a plate for customers to taste. They also offer summer sausage and
snack sticks for sale.
