Respiratory Drug Delivery (RDD®) 2022, held in May in Orlando, Florida, US attracted approximately 500 participants from 26 countries, many working in corporate R&D, business development and management. They were joined by academics, regulators, clinicians and consultants active across all facets of drug delivery to the respiratory system. Notably, a significant number of companies participated for the first time. Most delegates attended in-person, but approximately 6 OctOber 2022 Inhalation CROSS-INDUSTRY Organizations which had been announced at Digital RDD 2020. Both win- ners presented exceptional talks in Orlando, as did Nicholas Bun- gert of Kiel University, who was awarded the VCU RDD Peter R. Byron Graduate Student Award. All work presented at the confer- ence remains available as peer- reviewed publications in the RDD Database, which now exceeds 2,700 papers available free to RDD 2022 delegates for a year. All this science and knowhow was made possible by generous sponsors from the pharmaceuti- cal industry and their suppliers, media partners, numerous volun- teers, and most importantly, con- ference attendees. e conference organizers extend sincere thanks to each of these groups. Anticipated highlights of RDD Europe 2023 RDD Europe 2023: Bringing e Respiratory World Together will be held May 2-5, at the Pal- ais des Congrès Antipolis in Nice (Antibes), France. It promises to be an even better event, as it will build on these popular features: e program was augmented with a superb presentation by key- note speaker John Pritchard, who addressed, "Is the Climate Right for a New pMDI Propellant?", a theme that continued during a lively Explore with Experts panel discussion that generated many audience questions. In coordination with IPAC-RS, a second Explore with Experts ses- sion delved into the scientific, reg- ulatory and legal issues arising as new respiratory products are com- mercialized. IPAC-RS intends to host future roundtables to facili- tate additional discussion on these important topics including patient centric design and sustainability. Twelve in-person workshops, 75 posters and 60 exhibits added to the program, as did the ability of in-person delegates to review any content they missed, by joining their virtual counterparts on the conference website to view on- demand recordings. Günther Hochhaus of the Uni- versity of Florida was selected as the recipient of the 2022 Charles G. iel Award for Outstanding Research and Discovery in Respi- ratory Drug Delivery. Jeffry Weers also received his iel award, Reviewing RDD 2022 Respiratory Drug Delivery (RDD ® ) 2022, held in May in Orlando, Florida, US, set a high bar for conferences focused on nasal and pulmonary drug deliv- ery. Notably, a significant num- ber of companies participated for the first time. Most delegates attended in-person, but approxi- mately 100 participated virtually, either by choice or due to per- sonal circumstances. Excellent sessions included: • Focus on erapeutics. • Nasal Spotlight: New Tools to Streamline Nasal Product Approval. • Project Green MDI: Next Gen- eration Metered Dose Inhalers: Promise for Our Patients and the Planet. • Aqueous Advances: Renewed Interest in Nebulizer erapy. • Designing DPIs—Perfecting Powders. • Regulatory, Science and Technol- ogy Innovation: Enabling Novel and Improved OINDP Design, Development and Manufactur- ing, which was co-organized with the International Pharmaceutical Aerosol Consortium on Regula- tion & Science (IPAC-RS).
