20 State Capitol Ministries C apitol Ministries is working to establish Bible- study based ministries in all 50 states so that legis- lators, constitutional officers, and other public servants from all political parties will come to know the truth, mature in Christ, and gather weekly to study the Word of God. Our objective is to help fulfill the Great Com- mission. Our ministry leaders evangelize public ser- vants who do not know the gospel so they may come to Christ and then disciple them to maturity in the faith. Jesus said, "For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world, and forfeit his soul?" (Mark 8:36). Our vision is to provide Bible studies to all three branch- es in every state in our nation. In addition to leading weekly studies, ministry leaders also serve as pastors and provide biblical counseling , mentoring , guidance, friendship and pastoral care to public servants. As in all our ministries, we do not push political agendas or tell lawmakers how to vote. Rather than working to change laws, we focus on the biblical model of changing hearts and minds and winning public servants for Christ. is is biblically fundamental to kingdom growth, as well as to preserving and illuminating a nation (cf. Matthew 5). is year Brian Solomon was named CapMin North America director. In this role, Pastor Brian Solomon is charged with growing the ministry throughout the United States and Canada. As well, Pastor Brian Sol- omon and Pastor Brian Hanson, CapMin's director of international ministries, co-lead a successful weekly Bible study to members of the Ohio Legislature. As Ralph Drollinger has oen said, the progress of Cap- Min's ministries is measured in years and sometimes decades. Since 1996, we have planted ministries in 43 states. is year, ministries were launched in Montana, Minnesota, and Maine. CapMin's Bible-study based ministries to state lead- ers also have the potential of impacting the future. Pub- lic servants who are well anchored in God's Word on the state level are well-equipped for the oen rough and tumble world of national politics if they ascend to higher office. Studies show that the national leaders of tomorrow—senators, representatives, judges, and White House Cabinet members among them—largely come from the state governments of today. Featured on the following pages are highlights of some of our state capitol ministries.
