Washington, D.C., Ministries 31 W hen the men and women who lead our nation study God's Word regularly and consistently in weekly Bible studies, leaders are being created—oaks in office—who are empowered by the Holy Spirit to act bib- lically and to bring every thought captive to the obedience of Christ. With roots planted deeply in the truth of the Scriptures, legislators and policy makers will reap fruit in their own lives and govern our nation well. Launching discipleship ministries to all three branches of our federal government in Washington, D.C., has been an objective of Ralph and Danielle Drollinger since 1996 when they founded Capitol Ministries. e first D.C. ministry was created in 2010 when Ralph established a Bible study to U.S. representatives. In 2015, he established a separate study for U.S. senators in part because many representa- tives had le the House for successful Senate bids and re- quested their own study. Upward movement continued in 2017 when many congressmen were appointed to White House Cabinet positions and requested a Bible study. An- swering their call, Ralph launched the White House Cab- inet and Senior Staff Bible Study—lauded as the first of its kind in 200 years. Today those leaders are out of office and continue to meet with Ralph weekly via the Internet to pray and study the Bible together. is year the D.C. studies experienced considerable growth in attendance as legislators and policy makers sought God's guidance amid increasing political unrest. e truth of God's Word pro- vides a stalwart anchor amid political turbulence. In addition to the three hour-long weekly studies that he leads in person, Ralph also writes and distributes 52 Bible studies every year that specifically address the per- sonal, professional, and faith needs of public servants. ese studies are also emailed to 20,000 people around the globe who request them. Many of the studies examine contemporary social issues through Scripture: war, abor- tion, government entitlement programs, racism, illegal immigration, the environment, deficit spending, and tax policies. Other studies address a public servant's person- al and faith struggles, including pride, the use of alcohol, prayer, wise decision making, and the husband-and-wife relationship. e primary goal of these studies is to create disciples of Jesus Christ and to arm the public servant with the Word of God so that he is equipped to be faithful in every circumstance. rough these ministries, the Word of God is shaping hearts, molding minds, and building strong men and women in Christ. Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord. P s a l m 3 3 :1 2 Washington, D.C., ministries "Over 200 years ago, our Founding Fathers established this great nation by God's instructions and designed our country's government based on biblical principles. Indeed, it was this design and faith in a greater power that catapulted us to the greatest nation the world has ever known. It is truly a highlight of the week to gather with my freedom-loving brothers and sisters and study these truths together. Jesus tells us in John 16:33 that we will face trouble in the world, but He also provides us with hope to cling to because He has "overcome the world." Throughout my time in the West Wing, and now leading a major public policy organization, I have been blessed to study and pray with Ralph and Danielle in the Capitol Ministries Bible Study. Each week, I am reminded that even as our country finds itself in tumultuous times, my team and my family can rest in the truth that the battle of good versus evil has already been won. This is the true source of my inspira- tion, and I am forever grateful for the lessons and blessings I receive from Capitol Ministries, which give me the strength I need to endure the righ- teous fight for the soul of this nation."
