Q: How has the co-op program helped you achieve your dreams? A: e co-op program gave me the opportunity to work between classes and interact with my peers and helped me land a full-time job at Redstone. I never knew college could be so rewarding. I was also able to have the luxury to do all this while still being home when my kids got there after school. Q: What advice would you give other students attending school later in life? A: You are as smart as or even smarter than other students in your class. Never make yourself feel less-than for going back to school at an older age. Be proud of yourself for enrolling in college and be ambitious enough to finish. Q: What two words best describe you at this point in your life? A: Diligent and ambitious. Q: What do you do for fun? A: I enjoy walking or running at the park, spending time with my kids and grandbaby, playing table games with my family, and watching TV when I have time. r e d f c u.o r g | 15 M E M B E R S H I P When your business or organization becomes a Redstone Membership Partner, your employees and members are eligible to join Redstone. Gabby Nichols is a 40-year-old wife, mother, grandmother, and college student. After immigrating to the United States from Mexico, she got married and started attending Calhoun Community College in 2008 to learn English and earn her GED. In 2017, she went back to Calhoun to get an associate degree in accounting. She was recognized for all her hard work and dedication in 2022, when she was selected as Co-op Student of the Year by the Alabama Association of Colleges and Employers while working as a student employee in Redstone's Calhoun College branch. She says being able to work at Redstone through the co-op program was the best thing for her and led to even more opportunities. She is now a full-time Redstone employee. GABRIELA 'GABBY' NICHOLS
