Katie estimates that close to a quarter-million kids in Central Montana have learned to ski at Showdown through their physical education program. e family-friendly recreation area accommodates skiers from 50-70 schools, offers low-cost skiing to fourth and fih graders, and has a "no child is turned away because of lack of ability to pay" policy. A March 1st-only season pass sale entitles skiers to ski through the end of the season and the entire 2023-24 season for $349. Showdown is Montana's oldest ski area and perhaps the most family friendly. Ski and Stay packages offer discounts on lift tickets. FAMILY IS KEY George Wille owned Showdown 48 years before selling the business and taking on a consultant role. "He's put his whole life into that mountain," Katie says. "To many people, he is Showdown and still contributes a tremendous amount." But now, "It's the only ski area owned and operated by a mother-daughter team," she says.
