This year's ninetieth anniversary is a culmination of
the generosity and dedicated support of a whole
community of alumni, parents, friends, community,
and religious leaders. Our ninetieth celebrations will
honor them – the people who make the necessary
work of the University of Providence possible.
Our special logo celebrating our ninetieth anniversary
combines symbolism from throughout the history of
the University. The central shield features the Rocky
Mountains of Montana and sloping lines that symbolize
Cascade County's fields and the Great Falls of the
Missouri River. These same lines are featured on the
official crest of the University, designed by Sister Mary
Trinitas for the College of Great Falls in the 1960s. Behind
the mountains is a rising light, a reference to the lighted
torch of knowledge that once adorned the original
crest of the College of Great Falls in 1934. These rays
of light also serve as a reference to the motto of the
University of Providence: "In Thy Light, We See Light"
(Psalm 36:9). Central to our crest is the monogram of
the University of Providence, emblazoned with the Cross
of Christ – the central symbol of the Christian faith and a
proud reference to our University's Catholic Identity.
