exhibits. Ilene uses a variety of mediums, but her favorites are acrylic and watercolors. e subjects
of her vivid paintings include florals, wildlife, and landscapes. "is is a great venue for Montana
Watercolor Society, and it allows an opportunity for artists to branch out," says Ilene about this year's
show at Western Art Week.
Also at the show this year will be Roberta J. Burruss, MTWS 2023 Artist of Merit. She has been
painting since grade school, and the subjects of her paintings are inspired by her time outdoors around
her Montana home. "Landscapes are my favorite, especially outside in plein air," she says. "I chose
watercolor as my specialty simply because it's so quick and responsive," she says
Shimi McKenzie lives in Hamilton, Montana, and her watercolor paintings perfectly embody the
essence and excitement of her western lifestyle. "I like things in movement with action," Shimi says. Like
her painting Eye Candy, in which a "cute cowboy," as she calls it, works cale atop a wheeling horse.
Shimi is looking forward to seeing everyone at the MTWS show. "I like the fact that there is a watercolor
society because there aren't that many of us. We're a tight bunch."
