Over the years, she has continued to bring together a fabulous group of established and emerging artists that cover the ends of the spectrum in terms of mediums. is year's show at Western Art Week promises the same, with thirteen artists featuring paintings in oil, acrylic, and watercolor on traditional surfaces as well as on rock, wood, aluminum, and copper. Bronze sculptures, wood carvings, and functional and Raku art poery will be on display, plus pencil art and hand-designed jewelry. Ken Acton Kristi Brothers Janet & Jim Buti Ma Doyle Pamela Harr Jeffrey Hoff Lois Huntzicker Vonnie Nuthak Larry & LeAnn Oshsner Nadine Pickthorn Ilene Paulsen Angela Smith Connie Tveten An artist herself, Nadine paints on a variety of surfaces. Her main sales come from her glass art featuring images of birds and flowers. Nadine starts by hunting for elegant old glassware at antique shops, then goes about engraving and painting an image onto the glass. Giving emerging artists a chance to show at Western Art Week is important to Nadine, and she is always scouting for new talent. No maer their level of experience, Nadine treasures each one of her artists and strives to create a welcoming space. "We have a wonderful show. My artists are fantastic people," she says. "ey're so friendly, and everybody cheers when somebody sells something. It's a team." One of the artists that has been with Nadine and the Wild Bunch Show since its inception is sculptor Pamela Harr. Pamela works solely with bronze from her studio and home in Glendive, Montana. "I think in three- dimensions, and I like to move around the piece as I work on it," she says. Pamela was inducted into the National Cowgirl Hall of Fame for her portrayal of pioneer women and is well-known around the world for her life-sized sculptures, such as the 8-foot-tall pirate she is creating for the Dawson Community College Buccaneers in Glendive. Pamela also enjoys creating smaller pieces for individuals to collect, such as Library Cat featured in this year's show in which a girl gazes up at a cat atop a tall stack of books, each with a quote about the positive aspects of reading on the spine. Painter Ma Doyle comes to the show from Pennsylvania, where he was born and raised. Many of his oil paintings are inspired by his trips to the majestic national parks of the west and his time living in North Dakota. "Ever since I was a lile kid, my whole family got me into the outdoors. I spent as many minutes as I possibly could outside," says Ma. A bull bison strides purposely across the ground in Ma's e Bossman, his hooves kicking up dust with every step. Ma has looked forward to coming out to Great Falls and being part of the Wild Bunch Show for the past several years. "My favorite thing about the show is the camaraderie. Everybody's friends, and we just cheer each other on and have a good time," he says. N Matt Doyle - The Bossman • 14" x 11" Oil
