Celebrate Local and Western Art at the Historic Hotel Arvon
By Susie Wall

A
rt is on display 365 days a year at the Hotel Arvon, so it's no wonder
that hotel owner Peter Jennings gets excited when all of Great Falls join him
in celebrating the arts during Western Art Week. "I enjoy the excitement of
collectors and art lovers coming through and people coming from out of
state to whoop it up in Great Falls," he says.
Visitors to the Arvon Art Show will enjoy viewing art throughout the
historic Hotel Arvon, a 33-room boutique hotel built in 1890 and restored
in 2015. e Hotel Arvon is part of the same building that houses the Celtic
Cowboy Irish Pub and is located at 116 1st Avenue South.
Peter says he and his partners who restored the hotel shared a love of art.
"We recognized the value of western art, and we knew that we had a lot of
local artists, many of whom were our friends. We cooked up an idea that
rather than having stale industrial art and reproductions on the walls, we
would pitch to these artists that we'd like to be a gallery. We could sell their
art, and the hotel would benefit from the décor aspect."
Brenda Wolf and Ron Ukrainetz are two of these local artists. Brenda feels
she connects more with her animal subjects using just her fingers and hands,
so she paints in so pastels instead of with a brush. "Each animal represents
a journey or emotional state for me. My bald eagles represent my fierceness
