"I was like, wait, there are people still alive making a living purely painting and drawing wildlife," she says. "It made me realize this is what I want to do for the rest of my life." Aer experimenting with several different mediums over the years, she uses mainly acrylics and graphite. Tara is excited about all the people she will meet at her booth during Western Art Week. "I love making connections with people who are passionate about wildlife and the western lifestyle through my art. is is my passion, and it's what I want to do for the rest of my life." Sculpture Barry Johnson comes to his art from a very different background. Born in South Dakota, Barry has been around ranching and livestock all his life, training horses for over 50 years. Viewing his intricate and highly detailed bronze sculptures, it is hard to imagine that he is a self-taught artist with no formal art education. "I'm going to document the life I've lived and the things I know through my own experience," says Barry. His sculptures perfectly encapsulate scenes of these experiences, like Come Let Us Drink, in which a mare leads two fouls to a watering hole, and a cowboy ropes a steer in Keep "Em Standing. "ere're so many physical elements to a man, an animal," he says. "I like to capture that moment of time."
