MOM'S DESIGN BUILD
SHAKOPEE, MINNESOTA
These homeowners wanted a modern
yet coastal feel that would keep the house
and yard simple and classic. By using
mixtures of stone and wood, this home was
able to capture a classic palate of color and
texture. The yard was especially unique
with its dramatic slope leading to the lake,
so the firepit patio had to be built directly
into the existing elevation without disturbing
the bluff line. This created a natural path
and terrace from the side yard into the
backyard living space.

This deck project turned little-used yard
space into a functional, family-friendly outdoor
living area. A new door replaced a window,
providing access to the deck that includes
attached stairs for safe, easy access to the
backyard and LED lighting for evening gather-
ings. The new space provides a spot for grilling,
relaxing, entertaining, and enjoying a once-
forgotten part of the yard.
