28 S ixteen discipleship ministries were established in the United States and in foreign nations this year and we held international training conferences in Latin America and Africa to prepare these men to launch discipleship ministries to the leaders of their nations. New and existing ministry leaders from 14 nations attended the Latin America Training Conference that was held October 3–7 in Panama City, Panama. e conference was planned and organized by Oscar Zamora, Latin America global leader, and Elizabeth, his wife and ministry partner, and Roderick Burgos, ministry leader to members of the National Assembly of Panama, and his wife and ministry partner Carolina. Ralph called the event a great success, adding that CapMin now has excellent ministry leaders in all but 8 of the 21 Latin nations! "Lord willing, we will add Belize, El Salvador, Peru, and Chile in 2023. Please pray with us in that regard." Teaching at the conference were Ralph, Oscar, Pastor Brian Hanson, CapMin's in- ternational director, and Pastor Brian Solomon, direc- tor of North American Ministries. Men from 21 African nations participated in the Recruiting and Training Conference held in October 19–23 in Cape Town, South Africa. Ralph extoled the efforts of conference planners Jon Cassel, Africa global director, and Pastor Flandorp, now the official ministry leader for the Republic of South Africa. "God has given us a great leadership team with multi-talents and giedness," Ralph said. "Capitol Ministries has set our sights on establishing national, regional, and local ministries to political leaders in 41 of Africa's 54 nations. We now have ministries in 21 of those nations. We are grateful to God for His leading and for raising up such accomplished, capable, and godly men." Conference teachers were Ralph, Pastor Brian Hanson, and Pastor Matt Goodsell, Missouri ministry leader who was recently appointed assistant North American global director. At both conferences, ministry leaders were taught CapMin's proven techniques that have been fire-test- ed over more than 26 years of ministry. Instruction was given on CapMin's mission and mandate, how to launch and sustain discipleship Bible studies to po- litical leaders, biblical teaching methods, the value of discipleship and relationship building, the priority of evangelism, the importance of leading public servants toward maturity in Christ, and why CapMin does not engage in political activism and lobbying. Translators were provided at both conferences. Great progress was made to expand the ministry world-wide this year and already we see that this remarkable momentum will continue in 2023. Efforts to recruit additional ministry leaders to teach the Bible to political leaders at all levels—local, state, and national in the U.S. and around the world—have been so successful that we are planning a worldwide training conference in Washington, D.C., in November 2023. On the following pages you will meet the new minis- try leaders who joined us this year to lead weekly Bible studies to political leaders in their home nations. recruitment and training Africa Recruiting and Training Conference in Cape Town, South Africa 28
