18 "A few years ago, I had the privilege of leading the first Local Government Ministries Bible study to elected leaders in greater Sacramento, California, and the experience was exhilarating to say the least! We studied Ralph's book, Oaks in Office: Essential Bible Studies for Political Leaders, which includes the same Bible studies Ralph teaches to national lead- ers in Washington, D.C. None of us had any idea that the Bible had so much to say about immi- gration, parenting, racism, deficit spending, and other contempo- rary issues. One elected official had planned to leave politics, and now he says, 'No wonder God has me in this position!' I'm continuing to lead that original Bible study. And I'm also leading the effort to recruit and train ministry leaders to launch LGM to their local leaders across America and in foreign nations. I invite interested men who truly want to make a difference in this world to join us and get involved!" Dr. Dan DeShong Local Government Ministries Global Director I nterest in Local Government Ministries for city and county local leaders continued to "explode" across the United States this year and so seven regional direc- tors were appointed to help recruit, vet, and mentor the newly minted Bible teachers and provide support and guidance as they launch ministries. e new regional directors will work with Dr. Dan DeShong, CapMin's Director of LGM. ey are Greg Helland, West Coast; Torrey Lewis, Northwest; Gene Sipprell and Nate Belkstrom who share the Midwest; Morris Webster, Northeast; Keith Hill, Southwest; and Dan Marshall, Southeast. "ese fine men were not picked at random," Said Dr. Dan. "In addition to be- ing experienced in leading their own discipleship Bible studies to public servants, these new regional directors have the spiritual gis, experience, and maturity that are required to serve in this vital position." e regional directors will be all the more import- ant as CapMin intensifies efforts to partner with local churches to recruit pastors and lay leaders to evangelize and disciple city and county leaders in their neighbor- hoods. And next year, the need will be greater as we participate in 40 pastor conferences around the country and explain the LGM mission to more than 20,000 pas- tors and church leaders. "We are making disciples who will go out and make disciples," Dr. Dan said. "LGM is growing so quickly that I keep changing the word from expansion to explosion." regional directors Greg Helland West Coast Torrey Lewis Northwest Gene Sipprell Midwest Nate Belkstrom Midwest Morris Webster Northeast Keith Hill Southwest Dan Marshall Southeast
